Damsel Elysium
Released July 18, 2024
To review this remix album, I first listened to Damsel Elysium's beautifully haunting source music, 'Whispers from Ancient Vessels.'
The original album is dark and introspective. According to the artist, it is a collection of "tales, speakings, and relationships with nature's beings such as trees, the sea, and the inner self."
I found the album thought-provoking in that it took me to recognizable places but traveled a strange and unique path.

Damsel Elysium's remix album on AD93, 'Whispers and Speaking,' took me to a different place of deep dark music, a place that was more internal but no less interesting. The songs take a more meditative journey, still heavy and still gorgeous.
Each song is put in the hands of a different artist for remixing. The productions are as adventurous as the source material and stand independently. If you hadn't heard 'Whispers from an Ancient Vessels,' you would think this to be a well-put-together and delicately paced album.

The remix artists Mabe Fratti, Coby Sey, Nyokabi Kariũki, Maeve Moayedi, Alex Faingold, and Sarahsson have each contributed to the album.
Released on August 27, 2024, the album is readily available on Bandcamp at: https://damselelysium1.bandcamp.com/album/whispers-and-speakings
